Do you think it would be more than Oladipo would want to stay here (if he even considers staying)?

IMO, I know that Jrue is not the ball handling guard that I want to pair with BI and Zion. I don’t know if that’s true in regards to Oladipo. But at least you get a year to see if Oladipo could be that piece. If he’s not a fit, then you let him leave. I don’t know that this would be my first choice for a Jrue trade, but it’s something I would consider. If I was Griffin, my goal would be to find a ball handling guard to pair with my two stars. Use whatever assets we currently have to find that player. Jrue is probably the biggest asset to use to find that player, if we’re looking for that player to be a vet (due to salary matching).

No to Oladipo. Same player as Jrue, just a little more consistent scoring but maybe a little less consistent defense.

Really need a 2 guard scorer, can defend his position and has more length.

Reason we need Jrue to be a combo guard is the lack of faith, at times, in Lonzo running a half court offense and the lack of a capable backup PG.

Jrue is not a PG. Too many turnovers when running an offense. His probing decisions are his biggest problem bc he generally makes bad reads and poor decisions in the paint, leading to deflections and turnovers.

I would only trade Jrue for Bradley Beal or an up and coming guard who has the likelihood to develop into an All-Star caliber player, 1st round picks (probability of being lottery) and a useful veteran(s) (necessary to make salaries match) . No need to take on contracts that are not viewed as part of future core and cant produce on the court or feel compelled to play said player just bc of his salary to the detriment of developing younger players.

Im starting to come around to trading Jrue, but doing so must absolutely net in making the team better immediately and future-wise. Tough proposition but doable.

Someone like Gary Trent Jr. (Portland) and one of their bigs is on my radar. And obviously Brooklyn has players that a combination would net a decent trade. Sactown is another team with pieces.
