No, people simply want to see the affidavit, not some reporter's interpretation of the affidavit.

I looked on BRPD twitter and found nothing.

WAFB article has this. A little more detail from the arrest report.

quote:

The arrest report states Buckley approached Boyd while he was sitting in his car to ask him for money. Boyd and Buckley then had a verbal argument through the open window of the car, the report states. Buckley then reportedly walked away from Boyd’s car and approached a young woman who was also in the parking lot. The report goes on to say Boyd yelled at Buckley to leave the women alone because he was scaring them. Buckley then reportedly began to approach Boyd, who then armed himself with a handgun from his car. Police say Boyd pointed the weapon at Buckley and tried to shoot him, but the weapon misfired. Boyd then reportedly put another bullet in the chamber and fired again, striking Buckley in the abdomen. Police say Buckley was unarmed and out of arm’s reach when he was shot. Buckley was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

So the panhandler just “approached” the shooter and the guy shot him for that? More question marks

That's got a lot more detail, and makes a bit more sense. And yeah, the panhandler becomes a lot more of a threat in my eyes, if it were me (I don't know the full legal options).

He came up to the window of the shooter's car once, and apparently had a verbal altercation. That sounds scary as shite, especially if you didn't see him approaching.

He then veers off after a walking female (I assume walking, out of the car, it doesn't say). Basic decency to say "leave her alone", instead of driving away. Panhandler then turns around and comes back at him... to me that's clear aggression on his part. Didn't walk away, sounds like he was coming back to fight.

Guy in car gets out, armed, which is my guess the big mistake. Should have stayed in car, at least... probably should have driven away.
Anyway, gets out and probably says "get the frick away", and the bum continues to come forward.

Sucks that they're going to make this a racial thing, when the real problem is, just like with the guy shooting the dudes in the street in Kenosha, you shouldn't be facing this type of issue in America, in public places. Cops should be cracking down on panhandlers, especially if they're so prevalent they "are known" in that area. You get approached aggressively by some street dude, you have a nanosecond to determine if he's just begging or about to mug you.
Similarly, if there's a crowd of rioters and looters about to attack you, the cops should already have been there insuring public safety so a 17 yr old doesn't have to run away and then shoot his assailants. Or conversely, to keep a 17 yr old from coming out to a "protest" armed with a rifle, if you think he was looking for trouble.

Police presence with a "get the frick out of here" would have prevented both these situations.

Now THIS string of events is logically consistent and makes WAY more sense than a guy getting out of his car, yelling at someone else, going back to the car to get a gun, then going back to shoot someone. Compare that to this one from the other news-like organization.

quote:

An affidavit released by BRPD Thursday lays out the alleged series events that led to the death of Danny Buckley. Jace Boyd, 24, was accused of shooting Buckley after he approached Boyd in his car and asked him for money Saturday night.

According to the document, Boyd got out his vehicle shortly after their initial confrontation when he saw Buckley asking a woman for money in the parking lot. Boyd is said to have gotten out of his car and shouted at Buckley, telling him to leave people alone because he was scaring them.

Boyd then allegedly armed himself with a gun from his vehicle and approached Buckley. The report says Boyd pointed the gun at the victim and tried to shoot, but his gun misfired. Boyd then pulled the firearm's slide to load another round into the chamber and shot Buckley once in the abdomen.

The affidavit says Buckley was unarmed at the time and was out of arms' reach of Boyd when he was shot.

The reason we don't trust the journalists is that we have two of them that have read the same document and are telling two stories of varying clarity and detail on whether or not Boyd left his vehicle. Both are based on the "journalist's" interpretation of what the affidavit said and neither is well written. Show us the affidavit and let us see what it says.
