Everything happening in Portland, Seattle, and places of the like is a direct result of piss poor parenting and failure to discipline. My dad (54) used to tell stories of having to put toilet paper in his underwear to reduce the impact of the arse whippings he got when he did something bad. My mom and her brother used to get whacked with frying pans.

Thankfully my parents took the belt off a few times on me and I turned out to be an upstanding citizen. I was also taught to respect police officers (but this is a different discussion)

Seems like somewhere with children born around the turn of the century people stopped discipling their kids. As a result, we have these soft as charmin punk kids that have no discipline and have never been bullied, fat shamed, or hazed.

Couldn’t imagine raising my son/daughter to think what is currently happening is acceptable behavior

By all means, let’s return to those days.

My kid was born in 2000 and received plenty of arse whipping when it was necessary.

So your dad’s a bitch and your trashy parents were both raised in abusive households.

Not this Gen Xer. My 13 year old despises communism and socialism because he's been taught history.

Gen X has enough shite to deal with, just being wedged between two whiny generations like Boomers and Millennials.

If anything, the school system should get the blame for this shite. I doubt that many Gen X parents are indoctrinating their kids.

We were the apathetic generation, when it came to politics. But the last 12 years has definitely changed things.

Wrong.

They don’t represent America.

They represent a loud minority. Stop paying attention.

Just like hard core Trumpers. Most are in the middle and want to live life.

Gen Xers never caused society or anyone any major problems like generations before and after. All we were guilty of was slacking a little.

bullshite. There's nothing Marxist about Gen X. It's the Boomers that grew up "protesting" in the 60s and the current generation that seems obsessed with Communism.

The indoctrination comes from the education system, the entertainment industry, and the media(and social media).

Blaming Gen x for this shite is pretty stupid.

you're oblivious. Everything you referenced goes back to the crappy parenting by the so-called greatest generation. They're the ones who got this country going in the wrong direction the most. The baby boomer generation was the worst of all. who are their parents? the "greatest generation".
