I thought the NCAA was too busy with COVID to approve waivers or issue NOA's

Good news! LSU will need a rim protector.

That's one piece of good news. Here's hoping that Leblanc and O'Neal are able to go at the beginning of the season as well.
That said, who in the hell knows when the beginning of the season will take place. Seemingly all mid-major conferences and some power conferences have cancelled fall sports. How does that impact basketball which overlaps the fall and spring? Will basketball be able to start in Nov. while the rest of the "fall" athletes are sitting out?

Basketball is technically classified as a "winter" sport by the NCAA; so it is theoretically possible that those that said they were cancelling or postponing fall sports could still start basketball on time.
However, there were some (I think PAC 12 may have done this) that said they were cancelling all sports till Jan. 1, which obviously would delay the start of their basketball games.
I'll be interested to see what they do with basketball. I think in part it will depend on how things go with football and then go from there.
I am on the side though that I just don't see how the NCAA could possibly afford to cancel the tournament 2 years in a row from a financial standpoint. So I think they find some way to get it played.
