LSU is the favorite on the crystal ball. My only fear is the stay home pitch from UGA... but I think he's a Tiger.

Scouting Report:
quote:
Two-way standout with the skill set to end up at three different positions in college. Is a high end prospect at receiver, corner and safety. He’s a smooth athlete, very skillful an uses his long 6-2 frame to win jump ball battles on both sides of the ball. As a corner, he shows good ball awareness and ball skills, the quickness and change of direction to shadow a receiver and enough long speed to run with some of the faster players down the field. As a receiver, he catches the ball naturally, runs well after the catch and shows goo timing on contested 50-50 balls. He has a lean frame with more of a corner frame but could grow in to a rangy safety where his cover skills would be very affective in coverage. Shows high end instincts and a natural feel for the corner position and that’s probably where his upside is highest. Projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future mid round NFL draft pick.

Go to DBU. Or get burned by Boutte & Co. in a few years

Your only concern should be UF not UGA

Looks like a nice kid!

6’2 and plays corner? Definitely sounds like a few tiger DBs who are doing pretty well in the league

I agree, either Gator or Tiger. Personal feeling Tiger.

I feel like he's Lsu's to lose, wouldn't he be the only corner committed so far? and may end being only corner we finish with

I don't like taking one corner this class after taking only two in last class. That puts a lot of pressure on depth in 3 years once the Stingley class has graduated. In today's world of football, you can never have enough guys that can play on the back end. If we don't sign another one this year, we'll likely need 4 next class.

Looks like a Greedy Williams type to me. Typical Corey R. / LSU corner. Would fit perfectly here. Hopefully he sees the same thing and wants to be a future 1st rounder from LSU. GT

Honestly I don’t like it either. You always want to fill your depth up with superb young HS talent but with the transfers and JUCO systems that are available, it’s not so terrible if you miss. I’d rather LSU get the players they truly want and feel can play the position at a high level than to go after someone simply because of depth. If they can play then sure but if you can’t get that player to commit to your team then I don’t mind waiting another year and fill that void with a transfer or JUCO.
I’m really hoping that they have another 1-2 big time corners that they’re eyeing but with no HS football being played it’s tough to find those late bloomers. That’s what really sucks about this and last years classes. Everyone is sort of taking a shot in the dark on some of these guys. We may not end up with the best player and many of those players may end up going to some of these smaller schools because they develop later. It really is a tough deal for football in general.

Agree even though depth is actually solid. As you stated though Stingley is gone in 2 years, maybe Flott. If Flott sticks, add him to Jones, Ward, McGlothern, Ricks and Wiggins as returnees. That's a solid 6 assuming no attrition. Not accounting for Sage Ryan. Add the likelihood of 2 maybe 3 recruits next year and we are actually in great shape.
S is a much greater concern in terms of depth and if apples to apples I'd rather take an another S over another CB. Of course you don't turn down McKinstry if he wants in.

Safety depth after this season will be interesting. I think that's why the staff is targeting another guy in this class outside of Gee and Ryan. 2022 is shaping up nicely at safety if we can keep Allen and Anderson committed for that long.

Glad to hear the optimism. Aren't the Gators about full by now they have like 25 commits or something... or do they have some "roster management" coming...

LSU had five CBs on last years roster Fulton, Stingley, Flott, Ward and Jones. The last four names I posted were all TrFr. Don't know where you got they only signed two in the '19 class.

The current class is 2021. Last signing class was 2020 where they signed Ricks and Mcglothern.

my bad you are correct sir.

Ryan will be the key... elite safety, I think Wiggins fits right in at corner here.

LSU has 11 total DB, 5 Safeties & 6 CB, and 3 safeties could leave this year and 2 CB & 1 S could leave next year.
LSU plays nickel or dime the majority of the time against spread offenses. that means we are barely 2 deep. I just hope that there are no injuries.
I would take 2 CB and 4 Safeties with one be a junior college transfer.
College is a game of attrition. Players leave after 3, 4, or sometimes 5 years.
The only way to combat this it to constantly back fill the roster. 5 DB a year (barring attrition) will generally get it done.
