If the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 decide to go at it and have a season together, I think the Big 10 is done for. Head coaches or officials from Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan have already said they would seriously consider playing outside the Big 10 if they were to cancel.

Could you imagine how bad that would look for them if the other 3 conferences (besides Pac 12) played a full, successful season without them? I wonder how many schools would simply leave the conference for good. From what I have been hearing apparently the BIG 10 commissioner doesn’t give a shite about the conference and is focused on being the NFL commissioner one day. Good luck with that. What an absolute disaster for them.

They'll never be the same. Nebraska and Penn State will leave. Maybe Iowa. Maybe Michigan.

It probably won't affect the Big 10 all that much honestly. The top programs like Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin etc. aren't going to leave the Big 10 permanently. The top recruits aren't going to all of the sudden stop wanting to play at these schools just because one season is cancelled in the midst of unprecedented times. Many Big 10 teams suck and will probably continue to do so, but players want to play college football, coaches want to coach, and hopefully Big 10 life resumes in 2021.

look, i want football. But no one will play this fall.

And if the SEC and other conferences do try, it’ll last a couple weeks and then will shut down when outbreaks occur.

It just won’t work.

I don’t like it at all, and kids are at extremely low risk of death, but it just won’t work.

They'll be fine. Only thing the schools and conference lose is money and the conference has plenty. Thinking they'll disintegrate or suffer harshly is as over-reactive as the virus response has been.

They’re not leaving the highest revenue generating conference in college sports. Iowa and Michigan? Seriously? Two traditional members?
Besides, the odds are not in favor of any conference finish the season if there is even any season at all.

Do you honestly think there are raining day funds just sitting in an account collecting interest??
That shite is spent.
Colleges will have to drop many men’s sports due to title 9 restrictions.
Tv won’t pay what is obligated to the big 10 if no games.
LSU check was what 50 million last. Give me a break with this it’s just money crap

Hard to say. There are a lot of ifs, but...

IF those three conferences move forward (more likely than some believe) and
IF they complete the season and crown a champion

It WILL hurt the B1G. Being seen is huge and if the only games on are ACC, SEC and Big 12 games in our current environment where people are starved for sports to watch, those conferences will continue to widen the gap between themselves and the B1G and PAC 12 in viewership, fans, $$$ and, most importantly, recruiting. Ohio State will still be a player, but do not underestimate the snowball effect that a bad cycle can have on a program.

Head coaches have zero say in who or when they can play. It’s all down to the egg head presidents and lawyers. Commissioners, AD’s, all of em...zero input.

I live near Akron, Ohio and on ESPN Cleveland (Big 10 country) they were really hammering the SEC today. They thought either the SEC was lying or were delusional. They thought the Big 10 was right and there shouldn’t play this year at all.

Really, because Notre Dame is back and they required all 12,000 students to get tested and provide results. 33, only 33 out of 12,000 tested positive. The government has brain washed the majority of the population, you included. Their results are posted to the public.

Ohio State lost a commitment from its 2021 class on Tuesday when ESPN 300 defensive end Tunmise Adeleye announced he was backing out of his commitment to the Buckeyes.

A long long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if 50% of all those teams coaching staff quits for other job openings. The university presidents have no idea the ramifications they just caused their programs. Recruiting, Transfers, Coaches leaving in droves, money drying up from boosters/no revenue. What they did was just commit suicide for their programs. I hope they change their mind and let them play before it’s to late.

The immediate ramifications if a season goes on without a hitch is those schools will lack any true publicity during the fall. Meanwhile recruits will go visit the teams actually playing. The immediate impact on recruiting will be felt but not extremely significant. However, this hurts lesser amounts for the class the following year.

More exposure will create more student enrollment in football playing schools. The schools will have more non-resident students attending generate more revenue and wider reach breadth for future generations. Fans of teams not playing will gain new allegiances and spend money or watch their new teams. This will also generate more revenue and future recruits to these schools. Think of the kids.

Overall the immediate impact will be financial. It will take one year for them to get back to generating that revenue. However, their success will decline with a waning degree of loyalty from their fans lagging from many variables thereafter.
