Why is their so much hate for people who pay a ton in taxes and are still shut down by the governor getting an abysmal $222 a week unemployment? Not everyone is a minimum wage loser or refusing to work. Very few places are more than 50% capacity.
So people who own bars or wedding reception venues and are shut down by the governor need to apply for minimum wage jobs? They pay thousands in taxes and are shut down through no fault of their own. They shouldn’t be able to collect $222 a week unemployment that they’ve been paying in unemployment taxes for years? My 70 year old neighbor is a substitute teacher. So she shouldn’t be able to get any unemployment?

Not 847.00 a week, no
Do substitute teachers get paid during the summer?

Yea, I mean, you should be trying to find employment even if not a job you love.

I started my business from nothing, it is somewhat specialized local work and while in theory we are open, well, the calendar is completely empty and I have no work for my old employees (and may never again). I still log in to our website to delete all the spam emails so I can feel useful while I check to see that nothing is coming.
None if this is a fault of any of ours and we deserve to be able to feed our kids and pay our mortgages since it came out of nowhere with no time to prepare. My American dream can be lost fairly and I'd hardly complain, my family has a few hundred years of serious ups and downs, but we were forced into this situation by the government.
When people complain about moochers and the unemployed, I wonder what their vision of America is, mine is we take care of one another when things get tough.

You're giving a lot of people too much credit. Some people are just lazy leeches and this has been like hitting the lottery for them. A girl I worked with asked to get laid off so she 'could get unemployment like everyone else on her street' She straight up said by not laying her off and making her quit or get fired that I was 'not letting her get government assistance.' Instead of giving her an opportunity to stay off gov't assistance, I was robbing her of it.
Think about that mindset. She's since been laid off but I don' feel like getting into that nonsense on here.
