One good thing is direct flights back into the states only being about 3-4 hours if needing surgery or other major things.
It seems as they have a public healthcare system as well as private healthcare.
I kind of like that.
We may go down and try to get first hand info from other expats.
Northern coast near Liberia and southern coast near the the village of Ojochal seem like the place to be.
I kind of like the size of Liberia (55,000).
20 minutes to the beach.

Costa Rica is very well respected when it comes to health care plus at for less cost then in U.S. Heck if I had Covid-19 I much prefer to go to hospital in CR then to be denied treatment for what is working on it in most of the world.

Most of their doctors trained here and get the benefits of US paving the way without the high cost.

I thought I remember some folks from the US (for elective surgery) and Canada (because of the wait time) going to CR for medical procedures and that many of the Doctors are educated in the US.

Cuenca or Banos. That was my plan before moving to AK. Who knows now. More people are doing Peace Corps late in life. If the opportunity to volunteer there for a few years is available late in my career I’d definitely consider it.
