Yeah - that is a prime example of what NOT to do - I believe if MLK had been allowed to continue leading the civil rights movement, we'd be in a far far better situation today.
It is an excellent example of what not to do, but isn't it also an example of free speech?

Of course - I didn't say it shouldn't be ALLOWED but it should have been roundly REJECTED by others voicing THEIR freedom of speech.
The ACLU used to defend these kinds of demonstrations - perhaps they did so here - they even allowed the NAZIs to organized a march in some Indiana city back in the day.
I am offended by both examples of ill-founded freed speech freedoms, but I think the direct HONORING of the ASSASSINATION of a civil rights leader is a more direct jab in the eye of respectable people. The NAZI march was a gaggle of idiotic low intellect misfits who wanted to show their asses for the entertainment of a crowd. The JER celebration was fomented by some sort of official declaration. Disgusting.

And now you know why he was murdered.

We had one in the town where I grew up. That statue literally means, "Men from this area fought in the Civil War."

I have one of the original "Eric Starvo Galt" FBI wanted posters that were initially issued for him.
Kept it for a souvenir of FBI efficiency.

Gotta ask, since the interwebs are full of unknowns...
Who is "we" (be far better off)?
Why do you think it would be better had he lived? You don't see a racual group ready to martyr (read: worship) another black?
