this is the answer. if it doesn't say anything about payment methods, or if it doesn't give ll authority to direct how payments should be made, i'd be tempted to just send a paper check. he will have a hard time evicting you in most states in that scenario, but be prepared to document his receipt of the check (certified mail or similar).
