This is wrong. Rex is still screwed because Rex is white.
Rex's attempt to be anti-racist actually makes him complicit in systematic racism. It's when whiteness is invisible to the white person that they unknowingly participate in racism. Anti-racists erroneously believe they are erasing their whiteness and racism by being left wing or liberal or whatever. The opposite is actually the fact. They are still racist.
