I just had a job transfer to Austin. I can't decide on Cable or Direct TV. When LSU plays on CBS will I be able to see the games on cable. Is there a package I can buy on direct tv to watch some of the LSU games?

I'm not sure I can have a dish at my apt complex but I'm going to put one up and make them tell me to take it down if I have to.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Just tell DirecTV you want local channels, that works everywhere.

I have DirectTV in Dallas. You can watch the CBS game no problem. To watch any JP/Lincoln games at 11:30 or Tigervision games, you can either order ESPN GamePlan for the day. Or just order it for the season like I do.

I see every LSU game that is broadcast with no issues at all.

How much does it cost to order it for the season?

what part of town are you in?

if you can get AT&T Uverse - go that route

Time Warner sucks but I dont think you gain or lose anything by going dish either.

I have the same question. I am moving to Austin on the 8th of August and I am worried I will miss a game. I called Direct Tv and that seems to be the route I am going to go. If you decide to go to any bars and watch the games let me know. It is so much more fun watching with Tiger fans than Longhorn fans.

I'm not a huge advocate of Time Warner, but they get the job done. You get the local channels in HD, you get ESPN and ESPN2 in HD, and you can order ESPN gameplan... so that pretty much covers all of your LSU football needs.

dont get me started on the local alumni assoc here - I'm not a big "fan" of how they run things

you'll hear about "Shoal Creek" or the stupid bowling alley - I cant say either way only I dont go to either one

I had some success catching a few games at Third Base and ran into a couple of the Tiger faithful

it all depends on who's playing, what time, etc. I had some success catching a few games at Third Base and ran into a couple of the Tiger faithful

after 10 years, I just end up watching it at home or at Rummy's house.

Yeah I like 3rd Base as well. It seems like there's not many sports bars that survive here for some reason. Fox and Hound, Ringers... both closed down now right?

F&H sucked, but that's more to do with that entire block is about to razed and turned into a new development

Ringers was owned and operated by a couple of certified idiots.

Third Base is opening a second location behind Joy up on Louis Henna and 35

Lavaca will be awesome now that they've doubled the size and added HogIsland Deli and all those TV's

Lavaca Street Bar? I haven't been in there lately, but the couple times I was there it seemed like a cool laid back place.

Cool. I'm probably moving downtown soon, so it's good to hear that there are still some good places to catch the games. F&H and Ringers both left something to be desired, but they were better than nothing...

the only games you wont be able to see are the tigervision games. you can always watch online or order the game through espn gameplan or the geaux zone.

First off, welcome to Austin!

I have lived in Austin for three years now and haven't missed any games on DirectTV. In the past, I've ordered ESPN Gameplan for $99, but just negotiated it down to $49.

Also, I was able to order the Sunday Ticket for only $99, usually $249. Just call them and let them know that you are thinking about bundling your internet, phone, and cable with Time Warner. They gave me all of the above discounts and threw in free HD services, free HBO and Starz for three months.

Hope this helps.
