Personally, I’d prefer to have a doctor who at least has the good judgement and self-awareness to approach one of the players or coaches an hour before the game and say, “hey, can you give me a couple of pointers, maybe spend 10 minutes playing catch w/ me so I can get it down and not embarrass myself?”

It’s not hard to spot somebody who’s never been taught to properly throw a baseball in their life.

Solid retort. Better than your usual.

I bet you couldn’t get it any closer to the plate than he did.

Say what you want, but there are serious things wrong with a guy who didn't learn to throw a ball better than that.

I cannot explain how deep a rabbit hole the comments within the comments can go in that thread.

Again, anybody whose ego wasn’t swollen with celebrity and not looking to extend their 15 minutes would’ve declined the offer to even do this. Especially knowing that he couldn’t do it without embarrassing himself. Shows a lack of judgement.

Swing and a miss. My avatar’s age is over twice that of mine.

Certainly not from any pitch you threw.

Y’all are insane. The man is nearly 80 years old. He’s a big Nationals fan. They offered and he was probably super excited like any sports fan would be. I wouldn’t care how bad my throw would be if it was for “my team.” That would be an awesome once in a lifetime experience.

Hell I got field passes for an LSU football game a couple years back and it’s something I’ll never forget. And that’s nothing compared to throwing out a first pitch at an mlb game.

There is nothing normal about not being able to throw a ball just a little.

Imagine the kind of kid he was growing up.

It's borderline retarded.

Ok.

Then back to my original point: at least have the self-awareness to ask somebody “hey, can you give me a couple of pointers so I don’t look like such a spaz out there”.
