My opinion of what needs to happen for the players if the 2020 season is cancelled.

*I also posted on SEC Rant to see if their were differing opinions between fans*
I am not discussing whether or not I think the season will be cancelled, only what I think needs to happen for the student athletes if it does.
Personally expanding the scholly limit is really the only way to allow seniors to be able to play. There would be too many players in comparison to scholarships available.
In my opinion the only reasonable course of action if the 2020 football season is cancelled is as follows.
1) All Currently enrolled student athletes for the 2020 football season, scholarship and walk-ons, shall be granted 1 additional calendar year of extend eligibility so long as they remain enrolled in classes.
***This one is obvious all players would deserve an extra year of eligibility because they would all be losing a year. All student athletes need an extra year due to the fact of that juniors and seniors would have the same amount of eligibility, potentially preventing some juniors from ever seeing the field in the case of only seniors getting an extension. It keeps working down the class if not all receive an extension.
2) No 2021 Draft eligible student athlete, scholarship or walk-on, shall count towards the overall scholarship limit of the school they are currently enrolled and attending for the 2021 or 2022 season.
***This is mandatory for seniors and juniors to return for their extra season. Underclassmen will have plenty of time to get an opportunity to play, transfer, graduate, or declare and should not affect the overall class size too much after 3 years.
3) Any student athlete that decides to transfer schools for the 2020/2021 calender year will count towards the scholarship limit of the school they transfer to as normal.
******This will encourage players to continue their career at their current school they committed to. And should help to prevent mass transfers of players
4) It will be left to the schools discresion whether or not to extend the scholarship to any football senior that was granted extra eligibility due to this extension. Any school that refuses scholarship extension to a current athlete will have that student athlete counted towards their scholarship cap during their final year of eligibility.
***This should punish low income schools that want to pull scholarships from athletes that haven't panned out like they wanted them to, this would force them to foot the scholarship bill instead of forcing the player to take a walk-on. It will also help the same schools that may not be able to afford the additional scholarship strain for retaining extra players, take the scholarship hit and walk-on the player.
Closing thoughts:
I have thought about this for a while and with a few tweaks and better legal formation to my main points think it would be the most fair plan of action for all parties.

Don't forget who you are mainly dealing with on this board. 30 seconds or reading is an enternity to some, and they think it makes them look smarter by telling you that they won't read for that long.
But what you suggested was handled similarly for baseball. I would expect they do the same for football.

Completely disagree. If you’re a senior, you are no longer eligible. The issue now with baseball is of note. The ONLY reason they entertained the idea is because they didn’t get last season. If this is a new year, which it is, you are forced to move on. If you don’t want to, then the transfer portal to a program that is playing in the spring or (fall that is not in the conference) may be your best option for this year, but you are out come summer 2021.
That would allow recruiting to continue as is and prevent all the wall of bullshite you typed.
IDGAF if there is the 1/10000 players like Joe Burrow. He was exception and not the rule in the difference between Jr and Sr season.
If you do what you said the NFL Draft is completely screwed and players who would get drafted now will not because a lot of the Jrs and soph would be eligible the next season if they don’t force the seniors out. The exception would be a Chase or Marshall Jr. maybe a Shelvin.

I don't understand the laziness of some people when it comes to something as simple as reading. Reading and typing are literally the only things you do on a forum haha!

That’s a different set of circumstances that now will have horrible repercussions. Ask the kids that got forced to leave that were not seniors.
Secondly that was LAST season. Football completed their season per the academic calendar. Lastly, see my other post about the NFL draft.

I would say if the season is cancelled they should let any player declare for the draft but let them return to school if they choose after the draft. Provided they don’t take agent money.
Sort of like baseball.
And if the NFL doesn’t like it, frick them. They don’t tell the NCAA what to do.

Are you suggesting draft eligible juniors and seniors MUST come back to play? If so you’re delusional.

Give me the cliff notes I'm not wasting my time reading that wall of whatever.
And gave me a headache just looking at it

Need to learn to express your written communication more concisely, didn’t read so downvote.

Football is being played in 6 weeks so none of that matters.

And you’re just as stupid as the people that spend 30 minutes typing up a new thread that nobody will read

You should ease up on calling people stupid. You are known on this board for starting terrible threads.

Please quote any part of my text that even remotely mentions that.

What part of my post wasn't concise? In fact it was so concise and well written that you didn't bother the time for your pathetic brain to look over it and understand the message I have presented.

Nobody with any kind of a life is going to take the time to read a post that long, much less to draft one that long. You might want to spend some of that time to check to see if your latest unemployment deposit came through.
