Take me to Church was a huge crossover success. He has great pipes and very much a unique voice.
Poor marketing/management? Why didn’t he become more popular?

Because only chuckleheads with horrible taste swallowed that mass produced garbage.

Not quite the substantive dialogue that I was looking for.

If you checked Twitter trending today, he was really popular...also believe he announced new music coming too.....
I like him and actually listened to the self-titled album last night, didn’t realize the internet still cared about him as much as they do.
Now if you’re looking for an act that didn’t become popular, Gotye, the guy that sung Somebody That I Used To Know....now that guy was a 1 hit wonder.

They had a lot of good songs, but “Take Me to Church” really blew up. Then, a lot of real “hard” rock fans found out that the song was about having gay sex and were like
Apparently a dude singing about gay sex in a rock song is only cool if you’re Freddie Mercury or The Kinks.
Been listening to this one lately:
Jackie & Wilson

Keep him where he is imo. Cherry Wine, Almost, Work Song, even his live version of The Parting Glass is incredible. I'd rather someone make excellent music than "blow up."

I think it's really hard to succeed right now unless you can shove a guest rapper into your singles, and his shite just doesn't lend itself to that.

I don’t know if you guys like Three Days Grace, I really enjoyed their old singer but the new guy is great too. They happened to cover this song and released the video around the same time I made that post.
