There's 27 teams in the league and you named 4 players (and 2 of them are on the same team).
Four in the last two years is still significant
As they are the four most high profile to sign lately

Them: Name the best players in the MLS Dbyrd2.
Me: Chicharito, Nani, Higuain… wait, you expected American players? Ummm… Busio seems good.

You’re right, fam… my bad.
Really though, I love the MLS. It is still painfully obvious how much better the Euro stock is than the homegrown players.

The best American players go abroad, so I don’t think this is a gotcha. Aaron Long/Jordan Morris are probably the best Americans currently playing in MLS but Clark is headed to Leipzig and a European team is picking up Cowell sooner rather than later. Busio will be in Série A and Araujo in La Liga within the next two years. Based on current form you could make the same argument about Leon Flach probably going back to Germany soon. Aaronson and McKenzie were some of the best players prior to leaving. Nagbe still plays at a high level and could replace Yueill on the national team if he gave a shite. Nyeman was recently ranked by the guardian as one of the top youth prospects in the world. Those popped in my head in like two seconds and I would rather have them on my team than some of the “retirement” euro guys. This doesn’t take into account the young South American players like Rossi and Atuesta at LAFC and Barco at Atlanta (with Pity and Almiron having already been sold off) who are fun to watch and bucks the retirement cliché.
As for the ones you mentioned, Nani has been pretty consistently solid. Chicha was garbage until this year. Higuain has been meh. His brother has been better, and for longer, in this league.
Just blindly naming the big euro names tells me you don’t watch much MLS. I encourage you to start watching more. ESPN+ is fantastic and I can watch most games there. The quality of the league has improved by leaps and bounds over the past five years and while not EPL quality it’s still fun to watch and the young talent in this league, especially American talent, is nothing to scoff at.

Dude you are completely missing the point
We are not saying the league hasn’t improved or it’s been a good for young players to spring board. The league defensively is still terrible and it get highlighted when these older players or the young South Americans from abroad come in a tear it up. Or when Vela said he came here bc he doesn’t have to take it as seriously
We are saying older players are still coming from Europe and South America to finish their career not sure how you can argue that
Your bat signal goes off anytime someone says anything negative about the league even if they are correct you still try and defend it.
We all watch MLS and I’ve been watching it since day one. Grow thicker skin when it comes to the league bc these shortfalls is what’s holding it back to grow.

Stop it
I bet you of the 27 DPs at least 10 of them are 30 or over 30
You might see one or two dudes a year end their career in Holland, Argentina or somewhere like that
Much less than MLS

There are currently 62 DPs in MLS.
42 are under 30. (68%)
15 are over 30 but were under 30 when they signed. (24%)
5 were over 30 when they signed. (8%)
ETA: If a player is 30, I considered him as over 30.

That’s a good mix and you have to give team credit taking risk young South Americans as DPs
But that’s still a lot over 30 and over players getting all that money

He came to MLS bc he wasn’t cutting it elsewhere and he knew on name alone he would get paid

Just this says a lot. If the quality of the league allows for a statement to be made like this, the players from Europe that come over are inarguably better than the local talent, which was the origin of this discussion.
Come on, guys. Nobody is attacking the MLS. There is nothing to defend. It is strictly factual observation, DPs or no DPs 30+.
