For a few months. 50/60 kids quit after summer camp. Just kinda out grew it and most just found it kinda boring. Older kids were just kinda bossy dorks and none of us liked them. Think a lot of the experience depends on the leadership in the group.
Cub scouts were a lot more fun building the pinewood derby cars with my dad, going on family camp outs, etc.

Eagle Scout here.
2 trips to Philmont, one to Seabase, quite a few different trips hiking out west for a few weeks during the summer with a great group of friends.
Great memories, I made Eagle around my 15th birthday and honestly it was starting to feel nerdy at that age; that being said everyone who made Eagle with me is relatively successful now. No therapy so far, sorry.

The real question is...Were you a Boy Scout AND did you use RoundUp helping your Dad in the yard back in 1999....if so, you can expect 2 huuuge checks coming your way

11 of the 12 men who’ve walked on the surface of the Moon were involved in Scouting.
Two were Eagle Scouts.

Congrats on eagle.
My 16 year old is a life scout and needs to get on that project. He is suffering from the 3 Ws.

Was til I was 12. Went to camp and they wanted me to do too many chores and shite. Also, not enough girls around.

I was. It was awesome. I don’t care what anyone says. Had a great group of friends and good leaders. Some of the best memories of my childhood. I learned a ton. Made Eagle Scout at 15. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Was a Scout in the late 60's and early 70's in Mississippi. Our troop had a Christmas tree farm, sold trees, and bought camping equipment. Our scoutmaster worked for International Paper Co., so we did a whole lot of camping on IP properties all over the state. During football season, we drove to Jackson and ushered Ole Miss, Miss State, and even a few Jackson State games at Memorial Stadium. We helped people find their seats before games. Once they started we could go sit on the grass in one end zone. Their was an LSU vs. Miss State and Alabama vs Mississippi State double header every other year. Remember watching guys like Archie, Bert Jones, Johnny Musso, Wayne Jones, Andy Hamilton, etc. Didn't see Walter Payton play, but saw his brother, Eddie. Lots of great memories, and no funny stuff to report.

I totally forgot about ushering games as well; we did parking lots though not the stadium seats. Every LSU home game we ushered Lot A right by the stadium and ticket office.
...Imagine being a 13 year old boy and ushering rich milfs who would toss you a $20 just for asking bystanders to please move so they could park. At that time I truly didn't think life could get any better, it was a dream come true for a Middle School boy. Great times.
Edit: Being young and dumb, a lot of times we’d pool our tips together after the game already started and buy some super shitty tickets about as high as you could get in the nosebleed section off a scalper to get in the game.

Yep.
No therapy. No bullshite.
My troop was small and all of our dads were involved with us. Going camping was damn near survival. Now that I’m older, I can say we did things right.
I’m not sexist, but it’s a shame that the Boy Scouts allows girls in troops now. And I see on IG that some girls are Eagle now.
How they just “giving” the Eagle away now. Smh

I got kicked out after rolling the scout master’s son down a hill in a trashcan.
Scout master showed us Playboy and nudes of his wife. I was 8.

Most are with good Troops
If you have good leadership it becomes a worthwhile experience
The high adventure trips are very challenging and awesome trips
Unfortunately all it takes is one bad apple to tarnish the good they do
At least bsa came clean unlike all the abuse in any other youth endeavor
Mine finished and spent over 40 hours working on his project for the community
We camped in any condition you can think of and had awesome canoe trips

I was until that one fateful camping trip our priest took us on. Kinda the reason I am where I am today. But, no ragrets.
