I wouldn’t say it’s entirely vindictive, just that they took what they had and made the most out of it, made lemonade from lemons. They can’t just give up the power they have worked for centuries to acquire. Jews, as a result of their minority status most places and that whole Holocaust thing assume that the only way to protect themselves is to entrench themselves in the wealth/power structure to the highest amount possible. This isn’t done unethically besides a little nepotism here and there. It’s just about sustaining successful businesses and industries. If they were to just give their influence away, how long before they’re wiped out or marginalized again? Let me put it this way, they’re never going to find out.

Much like old money has the power in college, work, and business.

You ever studied or discussed much with a yeshiva trained torah observant Jew? It's kind of like how Christians do 'pre trib, mid trib, and post trib'... and what they think of others who don't tribulate it. It can make you both smarter and leery at the same time. It can happen when you argue/discuss/rehash the most minute topic all day long, from birth, and think it's fun.... till it's not.

It helps that they'll have learned a second language, using a completely different alphabet, with completely different characters, written in a completely different direction, in both a modern and archaic dialect, some even without the aid of vowels, all by the time you've graduated elementary school. And also well on their way to learning an oral tradition that (eta: I believe is at least) the length to the 1st five books of the bible and also has volumes of written commentary. They simply learn at an early age and it helps.... like it does for everyone.... but they've done this for generations and expect it as a way of life. We do much the same with gated communities, white flight, and fraternal organizations.... and teaching our kids a second language.
