Good stuff, but how can you get shot that many times and still be advancing?

This isnt Hollywood.
In the infamous Ferguson case, Michael Brown advanced somewhere around 25 feet between getting shot the first time and finally dying from the 6th shot.

Do you know what attackers do after you shoot them with a handgun? Usually the same thing they were doing before you shot them with a handgun.
Being shot with a handgun isn't like Hollywood. Someone who isn't hit directly in the CNS or the heart may be mortally wounded, but fully capable of continuing an advance or an assault long enough to harm or kill. The more times they're hit, the more likely they are to agree to quit doing that shite right now, but without an incapacitation hit, there are no guarantees. That's why people taking defensive pistol classes and cops are trained to deliver fire until the threat stops.
ETA: Also, in that video, you see a great example of training kicking in when the cop's gun malfunctions. Tap, Rack, Bang!

Adrenaline...drugs...mental illness...the human body can take some serious abuse before checking out. But the average person hasn’t seen the graphic truth and the media won’t show it.

I once read an account from an Army NCO who deployed to Afghanistan in the early 2000s. An Afghan tribesman all hopped up on khat came at him with a sword. The NCO emptied a 9mm mag into the tribesman - didn’t even slow him down. Fortunately, the sergeant also had his personal .45 ACP with him. He drew that and two rounds from THAT brought the Afghan down.

9mm ... if it was a .45, wouldn’t have gotten near that close.
