Are you looking for Winter with Snow or summer activity OP? You absolutely do not want to go to something like a Dude Ranch in April for summer time activities, there's a good chance in most of the west there will be Snow.

Wyoming, Montana, and Utah get snow well into June at altitude. You definitely don’t want to go to even Colorado in April, I think April actually has the most snow for Colorado it’s just it gets warm and melts on and off so rarely gets thick like the winter.
