The threat of death, no matter how small, is already public knowledge

The science of this is all over the map. You're going to take a waiver into court (which would probably be 1 page long) and tell a jury, well they watched CNN, they knew the risks.

Maybe they watched Fox and didn't know the risks?

Kids have signed waivers for H.S. football for years due to the 50 years of long-standing understanding that deaths occur.

Let alone a 6 month old illness...that even the medical professionals can't seem to get a grasp on.

And even when kids sign a waiver for football, it doesn't absolve negligence in stuff like heat-related deaths.

So the issue is what steps did the coaching staff do to mitigate exposure to Covid?

There's a higher standard when parents are entrusting their kids to schools and their protection and guidance. When kids are on campus, they're under the direction and control of the school.

For a waiver to work in court you have to have been so informed and knowledgeable of the potential risks and that those risks were high and that there was no negligence on the part of the entity that helped cause your death.

Maybe an African safari and you jump out of the touring van in front of a pride of Lions to take a closer picture despite the tour guide warning you not to...that waiver would probably work.

But H.S. kids and a mysterious illness?
