towards the first of August, can yall give some recommendations on some decent eats she should check out? This will be her first time down and will be in the French Quarter, I'd also appreciate safe/not safe areas to direct her towards. Preciate it ahead of time.

Can you find out what kind of places she likes? What kind of food and possible price range you are looking for.
Peoples taste and budgets really are all over the place. If I sent any of my Aunts to Stella or August they would pass out just by looking at the prices and I know they would not know how to approach that kind of food.
All of the places in the quarter and warehouse district will be safe. Lots of good food choices too.

She won't be going 5 star by any means, modest budget. Will be her and a friend, but will probably splurge for a fairly decent meal or two while there, the rest of the time, mainly site seeing. Thanks again for your help.

On a budget stay away from Stella. Maybe Drago's or La Bocca or Couchon would be better choice.. Tell her to stay in the quarter or warehouse district and not to go north of Rampart.

For the splurge meal, send her to the Pelican Club.
For some of the other meals, look up Palace Cafe and Mr. B's to see if those menus look good to them.

For a cheap lunch: Mother's, Johnny's Po Boys, Central Grocery for a muffaletta, Palace Cafe does a 2 course temperature lunch (2 courses is the price of the high temp from the day before...98 degrees= $9.80).
For reasonable dinner: I would check out the Coolinary menus (Pelican Club, Arnauds)...3 courses for $30, Cochon.
There are two great events going on that weekend...Satchmo Summer Fest at the US Mint and White Linen Night on Julia...17 art galleries will be open and there will be food and music on the street...its one of the better nights of the year in NOLA (both are free and she does not need to wear linen to the latter).
If she likes wine bars...WINO is a MUST for her.
I would also tell her a good idea is to drive or a $5 cab to the Garden District (she could also streetcar it)...go to Commader's Palace for lunch...2 courses are $18 and 4 types of martinis (3 of them are flavored) for 25 cents at lunch...then right there on Magazine from Washington to Louisiana Streets there are a million shops and gelato places, bars etc. (lots of dress shops for girls)...really that is probably the best spot in the city IMO. Not to mention all of this is set in the Garden District, one of the 2 or 3 prettiest neighborhoods in the nation.

Thanks so much for all the info and links. I believe she'll have an enjoyable time while there.
And, I think Clay will take it this year, 2nd yr for the coach and the D should be fairly good this year with Dial anchoring the line.
