Cashiers, Highland, Bryson City or Brevard are options in NC if you can find a room. They’re in approximate same direction as Tallulah Falls.

Bingo. These are all very good answers. The other side of the park is a much different speed than Fratlinburg.
I've never been during a national holiday but enjoy it in quieter times, but I prepare myself mentally first.
