Watching Zac Radford play it on his channel. Looks like a sweet trek. Read they just dropped a ton of money on the redo. Also, I believe Donald Ross did the course back in the day
I love these type of courses. Anyone had the pleasure playing this course? Reviews?

I've played out there about once a week since the pandemic stuff started. Short par 70 but a decent layout. Recent renovation really helped out. It's in as good a shape as I've ever seen it.
Pace of play out there is terrible on the weekends though. Tons of hackers and it's cart path only all the time so things can get really bogged down. Best time to go is early mornings during the week.
Also, it's not a Donald Ross course. That's a common misconception since it used to be the Birmingham Country Club course way back in the day. BCC moved to its current location in the 1920s, I believe, which is a Donald Ross course.

I grew up playing there in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The redo several years ago changed several holes.
It’s well kept. Tight.

I played there yesterday for the first time in a long while. Great (short) golf course. One of the Par 3s is so short I took a 56 degree off the tee. It’s in great shape, but it was horrifically slow (as mentioned above). Worth a trip out, though.

Highlands is a fun layout, great for a round in the city. But it is hard to measure your game there as it i short and slightly tricked up.

Played it about 10 years ago and it was a nice course from what I remember.
Really like playing the Trail, very smart thing for Bama to create.
