re: Drew will never be the team leader he once was...

When it's time to play football, he'll step on the field as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. Holding top spots in most, if not all, major passing categories.
100% without a doubt he's still the leader of this team on the field. On Sunday's that's all that matters.
You guys are overthinking this. Big time.

DeMario Davis ; Cam Jordan ; Marcus Davenport & few others will step up & galvanize the team with Brees hopefully.

money has no shame
it doesn't care if you grovel
it doesn't hold a grudge
it doesn't care if you're short
isn't humble, honest, or bitter
doesn't care if you cheated or worked honestly

Dreunuch Breunuch. The ball-less wonder.

I lost my almost reverent respect for him. Still unsure how he fathered so many children lacking any balls.

It's his last year. Give it a break. He's walking a fine line of the device BLM crowd and inclusive God Bless America crowd. The former pays his check and sets his Legacy. I don't go for divisive politics of any kind. But it is an election year and the Left is pulling out all the tricks. Stay calm, stay home, stay sane.

“Team leader” how about a leader? He backed down.

They’re wishful thinking this.
Drew did what he did to keep locker room
Support. The posters here act like apologizing to your teammates when you puss all of them off is a bad thing.
Idk who Drew would be leading if he stuck to his ground. Which was wrong.

He had nothing to apologize for, especially after the way his teammates acted in public, on Twitter of all things.
Instead of his teammates calling or texting him their issues and handling everything privately, they publicly bashed him on Twitter, which is about as childish as you can get. Demario Davis is the only one as far as leaders of the team that handled it correctly. He talked to Brees privately first and then went public and didn't bash him.
At most maybe Brees while talking to his teammates privately could have apologized for not thinking about what all was going on and making those comments and said he understands why they are upset, that he supports standing for the flag, but supports their right to kneel.
Instead he got bashed on Twitter, told to STFU by MJ who then turned into a bitch by deleting it, had Lattimore subtweeting Brees is racist tweets, got bashed by Cam Jordan, and AK, along with the WR from 49ers who I can't think of his name and no longer care.
Marcus Davenport wasn't even allowed to have his own opinion without Cam Jordan fussing at him, all on Twitter. HS kids would have handled this better.

He's a coward who threw veterans under the bus. Frick him and the BLM terrorist.

Whether you agree with HIW they voiced their displeasure is a separate issue.
You need To have working relationships with your teammates and what drew said legitimately pissed them off, and I think to a certain extent they were right to be pissed off.
And Drew apologizing for that doesn’t make him weak it makes him smart.
People just can’t separate that from their opinions about kneeling and what Drew should have done to keep THEIR respect.
Drew doesn't need to be a leader of a right wing twitter mob.

Then take it up with him privately like even high school kids would do

I didn’t say it made him weak

Kneeling doesn’t bother me

I’ve seen plenty of liberals disagree with his teammates reactions and I don’t care what Brees political stance is. I’m more disgusted how his teammates publicly treated him, and on Twitter of all things

Again your talking about something completely different
Whether how the reacted was right or wrong it’s how they reacted.
We’re talking about how Drew Brees then acted.
People wanting him to double down to show he is a “leader” need to ask themselves who he is supposed to be leading.

No, I’m simply stating my dismay how his teammates publicly treated him.

High school kids would have done better

Brees didn’t bash his teammates publicly. His numerous apologies isn’t a concern of mine. I thought he went overboard but overall I’m not concerned with it.

He was a leader before this and can hopefully maintain that. I have respect for him still and utmost for Demario Davis who handled it like a true adult.
MJ, AK, MT, ML aren’t grown ups yet, maybe one day they’ll learn to not take their frustrations out on their teammates via twitter

Which again is different than the original topic.
There’s nothing wrong with that but It’s looks like we are arguing about two different things.

Brees was a shitty leader to begin with. Never held frickers like Malcolm Jenkins accountable for screwing us out of wins. Had Tom Brady said any of those things not one motherfricker would have the balls to shite on him. And Brady wouldn't be apologizing left and right either.

Brees had a confidence and air of invulnerability that helped cement him as a great leader. Now that his teammates have neutered him, he may feign having that leadership but it will never be the same.
He'll be an even better leader because he knew he was wrong in the end and admitted it. His teammates appreciate him more for that I'm sure. That's what leaders do. They acknowledge the people around them. They don't scoff at people and rub their dicks in their face
