'Twister’ Reboot in the Works at Universal With Joseph Kosinski Eyed to Direct

Sources tell Variety that Universal Pictures is developing a reboot of the 1996 blockbuster and is in negotiations with “Top Gun: Maverick” helmer Joseph Kosinski to direct.
Frank Marshall will produce the pic and the studio is currently meeting with writers to pen the script.
Plot details are vague on this latest version, but the original film starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, who play storm chasers and a couple on the brink of divorce. They team up to chase tornadoes in order to deliver their advance weather alert system that has to be placed in the path of the Twister.

I can handle a sequel even if they can only get a character or two from the original back for a cameo.

It was the second highest grossing movie in 96 and it’s domestic gross with inflation considered is over $500 million. WW it would be over a billion and that’s assuming it didn’t sell a single extra ticket.

I heard an interview the other day with the author of Enders Game. He was using it as an example of a movie being better than it needed to be. He said Titanic is a movie that it’s best to watch with the sound off because the dialogue sucked. He said Twister is a movie that would still be good if you just listened to the audio. I tend to agree.
