Not sure this is true.
The older I get, the more I believe that we in fact do chose what we believe, way more often than we are able to admit or even realize.
I don't think it's a conscious choice, but I do believe it's a choice.

You believe lots of things that aren’t “true” but they are “true” to you. Take for instance your own perception of “who you are”. That only exists in your own mind. To every person you’ve ever known, you aren’t that person, because they perceive you differently than you perceive yourself. Who is the real you? Does such a thing even exist?
