Will be interesting for football season for sure. They may require masks but who is going to wear them outside baking in the sun for 3 hrs? Would be interesting to hear some of the stories from fans in 1918 with the Spanish Flu. I have only seen 3-4 different photos from a game during that time period and looked like large number wearing masks.

Who would be able to give those first hand accounts today?

Masks were as effective then as they are today, which is to say probably not very effective.



Also...why is the go to the Spanish Flu? Why not the 1968 Hong Kong Flu?

Attempting to enforce something like that at a football game would be laughable and completely ineffective. People eat and drink constantly, (especially water in the early games) and will do nothing but touch their masks the entire time.

Are they going to make everyone wear them at tailgates too? What about seating on top of each other with people sweating everywhere? The idea that the spread of the virus can be mitigated at something like a major college football game is erroneous.
