Can't rewatch the 2019 LSU football season unless I have the volume muted. ESPN sux at calling a football game.

This needed a thread?

I know it's cool to hate on ESPN, but we get EVERY SINGLE LSU game on TV because it exists.

Gone are the days of TigerVision and non-televised games.

I like most of the commentators. Blackledge is one of the best. Sean McDonough (sp?) bugs me a little but overall, I think most of them do a good job. Fowler is great, even Herbie has grown on me.

Will always love him for the Warren Morris call.

Fowler is great

As a gameday host he was great, as a tennis commentator he is fantastic, as ESPN's main college football PbP guy, he is miles behind what they've had in the past

You're right. Good point. I had forgotten about that.

Maybe it was a little much to say Fowler is great, but I do like how he just calls it like he sees it. What I mean is showing no favoritism. Something CBS hasn't seemed to have been able to do. They have gotten better, I will say though. I do like Nessler. But Verne drove me nuts. It's was blatantly obvious who he was pulling for. As a commentator, just seems like you'd put that on the back burner and even if you're pulling for the other team, you just don't say it. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Fowler does get numbers mixed up and such but I don't mind listening to him.

Rece..... eh..... he bugs me.

Oh cmon man. Almost every analyst calling LSU in-game on tv talked about how shockingly unstoppable our offense was. EVERYONE was on Joe Burrow’s bandwagon (dick). Our coaching staff- especially O and Joe Brady and to a lesser extent Ensminger- also got a lot of love on broadcasts.

In fact, it started with Herbstreit in the Texas game. He repeatedly said that we put the nation on notice that this was not the same LSU of years past. I think if anything, announcers would sometimes have an incredulous tone of voice. I think that’s understandable. Sometimes I couldn’t believe what I was seeing out there either.

Also, not all our games were on ESPN. SEC Network and CBS definitely have a few (I know SEC network is an ESPN affiliate, but they have different announcers).

I don't recall us having Beth Mowins on the call for any game.

I'd love to hear why the OP thinks they "sux" (sic) at calling the game? Was it the effusive praise of LSU and Burrow?

Right on, brother. You’re not cool unless you think everything sucks. You go get ‘em.
