Some of Trump's non-sycophantic supporters (Such as Sentrius and myself) have been very critical of President Trump's lack of leadership and spine that has been displayed over the past few weeks and months.
Trump is being led by The Pied Piper (Jared Kushner) down a path of political suicide with some bizarre promise of winning black voters over.
Tucker Carlson has tried to knock sense into Trump, but this embarrassing turnout will be what wakes up the sleeping giant

Or people in yet a different category consisting of even more reasonable people than you've described would suspect that the combination of covid and prospect of potential violence from antifa types may well water down the urge to head out there. In this category we don't read a whole lot into this situation.
