If you put the two greatest LSU corners on the outside Corey Webster would be one of them.

No chance, but he’d probably make second team.

Patrick Peterson is the greatest corner to play at LSU, by a wide margin, with the possible exception of Stingley. Tyrann Mathieu definitely gets the nod over Webster. After that, there are a few you can debate about; Claiborne, Webster, Britt, Gino Daniels, Tre White, for example. IMO, I’d take Tre White as the fourth corner, but I would not argue with Webster as fourth.

I would agree.

Not at corner. We all know he's great, but his greatness is at safety or nickleback, where he's free to reek havok. Yeah he was a good corner, but there's a few tigers who are better pure corners than him.

I'd go Peterson and Webster, and i wouldn't object if someone wanted Tre White over Webster.

And i got to witness Webster do a 360 on our home court, and miss a windmill dunk, as they went on to beat the shite out of us. Super super athletic guy. one of my all time favorite Tigers.

The craziest thing to me was how great he ended up being playing corner. He only played quarterback in high school and his main focus was on basketball. Being from down here all you hear about was how great of a basketball player he was I’ve heard some crazy stories about him playing basketball I wish I was old enough to remember seeing him play but he was definitely a role model in my life.

Fun Fact:
Corey Webster caught Brett Favre's final pass as a GB Packer.

Not quite as Fun Fact:
Corey Webster lives in the same neighborhood as Lolo Jones in Prairieville.

Stingley will be an all-time great Tiger, and in 2 years I agree he is probably in the realm of PP7. He should be a Thorpe award front runner the next 2 years, and 1st-Team All-American... However, this board vastly overestimates how great of a season he had. So far in his career, Webster, Claiborne, and Tre White are absolutely still ahead of him in terms of all-time LSU CBs. Mathieu as well, but I don't really consider him a true corner.

Very Random thread.

I'll connect the dots for you.

Someone started a Quinn Johnson thread earlier and mentioned he was a high school state champion, BCS champion, and Super Bowl champion.

I remembered that Corey Webster accomplished the same milestones.

What no one has caught on to yet is that Webster's 3A state title and MVP honors in high school were in basketball.

Corey has told this story himself: DiNardo was not even recruiting him but when Saban came in & saw him on film while looking at another player at St. James, Saban immediately offered him a scholly. St.James at the time had several former tulane payers on the staff & he was headed there before Saban grabbed him. My son's high school was in the same district as St. James & Corey terrorized us from the 8th grade up, in all 3 sports. They put him in the shot gun on offense & he ran / passed everybody all over the field. Then they put him at deep safety & he covered the whole field from side line to sideline. In basketball he did whatever he wanted to as a point guard & in baseball he knocked the cover off the ball & then would take the mound & routinely strike out 2 out of 3 most innings. One hell of an athlete & we have Saban to thank.

His one handed interception against Moo State in 2004 stuck with me. Incredible play. Hell of a ball player.

Got to witness that state title game in the Cajun dome. Beat St.Bernard I believe. Best part is the game before the 3a title was the 1A title game led by Spears at Southern Lab.
