Realized his film hadn't got to scout or rivals (until very recently) and is the reason he's not highly rated right now. Considering 3-star Jeremy Simmons (#25 in Alabama) is the #1 OL currently in Alabama according to rivals what's the chance Williford moves above him when it's all said and done?

Well, considering DJ Fluker is moving to OT for his senior season, and is projected as such by most experts at the next level....I'd say the odds are slim. Also outside of Fluker there are no blue-chip(4 or 5 star) OL in the state of AL this year...so landing the #1 OL in a state with not much OL talent that particular year would really be meaningless. But Fluker probably won't be moved to OL on the recruiting sites will he? I thought Bama wanted and offered him as a DT?

If Fluker stays DT there's a pretty high chance Williford moves to #1 OL in the state. Could end up being a 4-star considering his size.

That's a good question. I'm not sure if the recruiting sites will move him to OT or not. And you're right Bama did offer him as a DT...but at the camp yesterday he worked at OT and looked very impressive from all reports. So much so, that the Bama OL coach told Fluker that he's going to ask Saban for Fluker on the OL. Fluker also said the he doesn't care which side of the ball he plays on, he just wants to play early. If he plays his entire senior year at OT, I'd guess the services may change his position, as they should. If not, then yes, Williford could end up being the #1 OL in AL. That said, I'd seriously doubt he'll be given a 4th star, unless and until Bama and/or AU offer him...which to date, they have not.

A lot of that is becuase he was pretty much unknown to many people until recently. Plays small school ball in Alabama and didn't have any video surface until very, very recently. I see a lot more SEC schools offering him including Bama and Auburn...well, if they think there's any chance of getting him away from LSU. You can't teach size.

If you think Saban and Tubberville are unaware of good SEC in-state prospects, even at small schools...you are mistaken. Tubberville has been in-this state building relationships and networks with high school coaches for nearly a decade now. And Saban has been doing the same thing for going on two years(more than that if you consider that Saban built relationships with many high school coaches in AL while recruiting the state while at LSU.) Bama and AU were both aware of the kid, and decided not to offer. Maybe he'll make those two school regret that decision over the next 4-5 years. From what I hear, Williford grew up a pretty big Tide fan....so if the Tide did offer(which I don't see happening considering we already have 4 OL commits counting Fluker)...than I'd bet Bama could get him. But like I said, I don't think you have to worry about that.

I think that's a fair assessment. I don't think a real, quality evaluation of Williford can be made until at least after his senior season... and possibly after a redshirt freshman year.

He went camping at both Alabama and Auburn already, but didnt come away with any offers. I'm definitely not saying he isnt good, the guy is a beast.

Not saying I don't believe you, but Scout says he's only been to LSU's and Ole Miss' camps...also the only two SEC offers he has.

if you look at his scout headlines, it says he camped at Bama and Auburn. I'm too cheap to pay for a subscription so I cant link the articles. But I would think Miles would have a better 'eye' for OL than Saban/Tubbs, so maybe he sees something they dont.

According to his father, he had his best workouts at Tennessee and they didn't offer either.

Miles and Studrawa get my vote for knowing good OL talent when they see it!

Scout's a little slow about everything. I don't depend on their database for any current/accurate recruiting info..be it current offers, hight/weight, camps attended, current interest level or anything else. Scout is good at some things, but most of their recruiting stuff is way behind.

Let's put it this way, Rivals moved Bama signee Barrett Jones to Center last year and ranked him the #1 center in the country despite the fact that Jones has never played center in his life and never will play center. Even Jones was stupified by the move and at a loss to explain it.

So, if Rivals wants to, they could move Fluker to any position, including center which he will never play. However, one thing is clear, Fluker will be an OL at Bama unless a bunch of their DTs go down or get dismissed.

I'm sure that had nothing to do with the fact that Jones played center all week at the Army All-American game and got great reviews at the center position while going up against the best DT's in the nation. Not to mention the fact that Jones was a 4-star before and after the move, so it didn't boost Alabama's class ranking in the least.

I have read otherwise on other sites. I am not saying you are wrong but I have read that he grew up a Tennessee fan, not that it matters that much. I have also read that he did attend camps at Auburn and at least had discussions with the Bama coaches. I think Bama knew the state would be low on OL this year so they took 3 last year and 3-4 this year (4 counting Fluker). The 3 this year are from Georgia. That is not a bad 2 years so Williford probably isn't needed, which doesn't mean they wouldn't want him.

Bama is still pursuing him, they made contact with his high school coach 2 hrs after he committed....they read it on the web also...Auburn told they have a scholly for him also..
