He and Trump disagreed right out of the gate on bringing American troops home from Syria. I’m not sure Mattis lasted a month after that taking an early exit. Pretty much kept silent about all their disagreements until yesterday.

Fwiw I've called out mattis on this board asking why you can't find his BSV citation. He's the dude everyone loves yet nobody exactly knows why. Its a cult following with him and tbh, he is responsible for more American casualties than a lot of people. Mattis isn’t absolved of trying to keep American forces in Syria, but in this matter, he’s correct. Trump is more concerned with pandering to the jackboot boys in blue, than defending the constitution and people’s rights. Also, “take the guns first, go through due process second”.

As it pertains to Mattis' entire reason for being (leaving a little room for the family) wherein he obviously rose to the highest levels possible within the military.....the "master of his domain".....Trump told him to grab a sit, there'll be only one boss here, on ALL matters. Mattis was oh so highly offended. But Trump hadn't a care to give.
Still burns Mattis up to this day, and will for the rest of his existence. He wasn't the top dog he thought he was.
That's my thinking on what Mattis' primary grievance is. So damn offended, in fact this supreme military leader decided to whine and fuss and gripe and complain about it openly and publicly. Severe, severe TDS.
