There is no hope for ever solving this issue.

Anyone who believes that we will wake up one day and a large segment of society will one day be enlightened that rioting and burning down their own cities is counter productive is simply not living in reality. You simply can’t reason with unreasonable people.
Had a polite conversation last night with a black woman who saw no issues with looting and burning. I tried the reasonable approach of “its outsiders burning the city down” and got the response of well let it burn, their voices needed to be heard. Tried explaining it was white outsiders causing much of the destruction and got the same response. It never occurred to her that it’s easy for her to say let it burn when it’s not her neighborhood being lit on fire. She couldn’t grasp the fact that the people who lived in the communities don’t want their city torched either... Best part was when she started scrolling through Facebook and she showed me video of black residents filming white Antifa trash destroying the city. The light bulb never came on.

Do you like oppressive govt, endless laws against everything, police/govt officials who have the power to ruin or even kill you whenever they choose and for whatever reason they see fit? If you don’t, you’ve just discovered common ground with the legit protestors. Y’all disagree on the solution and the cause, but both see the same problem.

She also can't grasp that these protests are happening in Democrat controlled cities and yet the alleged problem is not being address by the Democrat leaders there. Maybe hold them accountable and make sure they hear you?

Well, let's look at it from this angle: if that bastard wouldn't have shite the bed with his knee none of this would be happening. And sure, I understand that had this one not occurred there would have been another somewhere down the road. But that one would likely have had a reasonably easy out for avoidance of this type scenario as well.
I'm sure they already do this, but all police academies should devote an entire week to studying every instance like the one that led to all this and real world role play involving every type 0f scenario imaginable.

It was a conversation where I could tell pretty quickly that no matter how well I explained things, she was not going to see it any other way than how she saw it. She flat out said its corporations and businesses being burned down and they have all the money so they can rebuild. It was pretty disheartening to me, because how do you counter such an insane point of view with any sort of well thought out reason. She was by no means dumb. In fact she was quite educated. She simply has a world view that is completely foreign to me

That's the real fricking calamity of the whole thing.
If the ends justify the means, don't you have to have a clear vision of what the ends are?

On top of this, I think another solution is treating police employment like the DoD treats civil service employment. For certain work, the DoD requires varying security clearances that require extensive background investigations to find out if a potential or current employee is a threat or risk to national security.
Regarding police, nobody should be out in a badge on patrol if the person has a trace of bigotry. Vet these folks out with polygraphs, references and social media. If a candidate is found to show light insensitivity, hire them and train them via a probationary period. More severe instances are grounds for not being hired and termination of current officers.

The difference is conservatives want limited government as a general principle. Those “protestors” only have a problem with overreaching gov’t when it comes to law enforcement. Nothing else.

Did it ever occur to her (if she is employed and has a 401K) that she may have a stake in those corporations/businesses and therefore she will suffer indirectly? This "soak The Man" mentality is really stupid.

There are a whole lot of absolute morons walking around who have a college degree.
Educated does not necessarily mean smart.

None of it makes any sense. The people in that community have a very legitimate protest against the actions of that police officer. Somehow they’ve let their legitimate grievances be highjacked by white anarchists, and people seizing on the opportunity to loot stores. The narrative is that they are doing this because they are upset with police brutality. That’s bullshite. They people who are legitimately angry and upset are not the ones destroying cities but they are allowing themselves to be labeled as such. Their voices have been silenced by the chaos of others.
