I'm assuming you are coming from Hammond
Sedona, AZ was pretty cool. Rent a jeep for 24 hours and go riding on some trails.
Maybe a side trip to Austin, or check out some wineries in Fredericksburg.
Marfa, TX, I've never been there before, but I've heard cool things
We flew into PHX and drove up to Sedona, and did a day at GCNP because my wife had never been. It was cool seeing the line where the Saguaros basically start/end.

Make SURE you stop in Holden and visit Ferrara Fire.
You’ll kick yourself if you head to the Grand Canyon and don’t take advantage while you’re in the neighborhood.
