A recent poll conducted independently of either campaign showed that former Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville has a major lead over former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions in Alabama’s U.S. Senate Republican primary runoff race. Cygnal, a Montgomery-based, nationally respected polling firm, conducted a survey from May 7-10 among 607 likely GOP primary voters. The survey was paid for by Cygnal, which is not involved in the race for either candidate or any outside group. The margin of error was ±3.98%, utilizing a multi-mode methodology of live phones, text messages and email. Yellowhammer News on Tuesday obtained the topline results from the survey. On the all-important ballot test (when respondents were asked who they would vote for if the election were held today), Sessions garnered 31.8%, with 19.4% total specifying they would definitely vote for Sessions. Tuberville, meanwhile, garnered 55.1% of respondents, with 36.5% total saying they would definitely vote for Tuberville. President Donald J. Trump’s opinion of his former attorney general is expected to be a key factor in the runoff, with the president having endorsed Tuberville shortly after the primary. Sessions’ recusal as attorney general from matters related to Russia has been a constant talking point, even as of late. Sessions has utilized op-eds and interviews to defend his actions, while Trump and Tuberville have continued to slam him for it. Cygnal’s survey showed that Tuberville led Sessions 56%-31% among GOP primary voters with a favorable opinion of the president. Among men, 62% chose Tuberville, compared to 29% for Sessions. Sessions’ best voter group in the survey was those age 70+; however, he was still losing that demographic with 38% compared to Tuberville’s 49%. A Cygnal survey, previously reported by Yellowhammer News, that was conducted March 6-8 showed Tuberville at 52% and Sessions at 40%. The U.S. Senate runoff will be held July 14. The Republican nominee will face U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) in November.

Within the next 3 years, Tommy Tuberville, who doesn't even know what Roberts Rules of Order are, will be Alabama's Senior Senator. What a joke. God Help Us.
(Not that Jeff Sessions is really any better)

President Trump didn't know either, and America is great again because of him.
We don't care about stupid outdated parliamentary procedure.
TUBERVILLE 2020.

At least he is not part of the Deep State which includes Shelby and Sessions!

Sessions is a bigger fool then I thought. He had no chance of winning after his cowardly and incompetent conduct, but he ran anyway.

The dems know nothing about rules of order or the rule of law.

Next it's time for Shelby to go too, two pretenders who, when the chips were down, have been nowhere to be seen.

Sessions could not have possibly voted to represent Alabamians any better than he did. No one could have. Representing Alabamians is the job. He was the best at it.
Being bad at one job =/= being bad at another job.. His voting record is public. Go check it out if it matters to you.
I'd rather trust a guy that represents us and knows exactly what he's doing than a guy who has always been a smooth talker without experience.
I, for one, admire that Sessions did what he thought was the right thing despite being under enormous pressure not to, and knowing he'd take a beating for it. That is the type of principled leadership he provides.
I'm all for Sessions, but as long as either of them win... well, w/e. Damn sure at least it won't be a democrat.

My post has nothing to do with the Democrats. I look forward to Doug Jones being sent home.
I do however, want to see Alabama have competent leadership and representation. It looks like we aren't going to get that this time around even if we are upgrading from Jones.

Sentirus in 3....2...1
Jeff is the greatest ever
Anyone with half a brain knew that Sessions was going to get smoked.

You really believe all that? He was either in on it or turned because they had dirt on him.

Not realizing he got played is embarrassing for him.

I disagree with that totally. It was clear he and Trump had a little beef. Trump still does. That part alone tells me otherwise. I've been hoodwinked by politicians enough to have blind faith. I don't.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter. How Sessions voted while working for us in the senate is all that matters.
My personal opinion is that Jeff is, in fact, as clean as a politician comes. I like outsiders. I just know what I'm getting with Jeff, and I don't with Tubbs.

I tend to agree he made the wrong decision with all that, of course.

The little midget is entitled. Sham on the people of Alabama for not voting him back into his God given position of authority.

I know that Page and Strozk were talking about other things being their "insurance Policy", but Sessions turned out to be a pretty good Deep State insurance policy.

In my very unlearned opinion, he was in on it. If he wasn't, he is a coward at best
