FYI

Uber will require all drivers and riders to wear face coverings as more governments start to lift coronavirus restrictions for businesses.

Well there are solid food and drink options at Union Station. When I arrive during happy hour I get local friends to meet for a drink there for a couple of drinks. I doubt your wife will care much once there, Union Station is much nicer than a car rental place. You can grab the car and she can grab a drink, gelato, a slice of pizza, etc.
Of course it all depends on what the price for Uber is when you arrive at the airport as well. If it’s cheaper to take the Uber, you can always do that.
Just letting you know based on my past experience. I suppose the lines for car rentals would be shorter with what is going on at least. It left a very, very bad taste in my mouth. The kids waiting in the car rental line looked miserable as there was no place to sit, only vending machines and they were mostly empty. It was over an hour once we were there to get to the front of the line. Probably left the airport an hour and a half after get our luggage. Not a good way to start a trip.
