Who do you have as the first governor, senator, or major media personality to say "we could just open everything up if those evil Republicans in the senate would just pass this stimulus." Its an easy prediction to say it will happen. What better way to shift the political consequences to those who are trying to get things rolling again?
My top pick for governor would be Newsom in California. There are some potential signs of the population there getting fed up with this quarantine business.

My salary is getting cut 10%. Newsome said if the fed government provides money we will not take the cut. Newsome was pimping this package.

6% salary reduction for me, can’t hire for 3 formerly open positions (gone for foreseeable future). Everybody needs to feel the pain, so that we never do this bullshite again

I have the Senate Republicans caving as they did on the first stimulus legislation wherein the House Democrats spewed a Robert Reich type $600/wk additional unemployment payment which incentivized workers to stay home rather than go back to their job even though the Republicans knew that that was the likely outcome. (Sorry for the gasbag sentence.)

Senate Republicans will posture and beat their chests. They will then pass a bill for $1.8T and brag how they saved the American people over a trillion dollars. Democrats will use this as an example how the pubs hate the American people. Behind the scenes ALL of the disgusting swamp rats will rejoice when they think about how little oversight there will be.

If the DEMs support the bill so much, they should cut their own salaries of $180,000. That’s an idea, they cut their salary to the Unemployment standard of $200 plus the $600, until a vaccine is created and unemployment is at 4%.
Their salary comes from the tax payers...why should they not be impacted?

GOP won't cave for the simple reason the House/Pelosi has made it impossible not to. In addition to being a complete cash grab, there's enough poison pills in there that it would be voted down (or vetoed) even if the $$$ wasn't so ridiculous.
