But is criminal trespassing a serious crime?

This is the ludicrous issue here. I have built a house before. I am sure 99% of the stooges on here would be amazed at how many people come off the street and look at your house while it is being constructed. It is not really that critical unless you get vandalized. When you get appliances in is when the serious theft is possible. Contractors I had never left anything of value laying around .

When we were building, we met several neighbors that way.
We'd walk in and hear voices speculating on what rooms were going to be used for. Made for some funny conversations.

Look, dude didn’t deserve killing, but let’s knock off the “he was checking out the floor plan” garbage.

Yep, drove up on my house under contruction once, after dark. My appliances were delivered that day, with installation scheduled for the next day. Yep, you guessed it, there parked in my driveway was a white van. He pulled out, and I chased him down the street. Cornered him in a cul-de-sac down the street. What a dumb move, I thought. Blocked his exit. Then I thought, I don't have a weapon, and it's not worth maybe getting killed. I let him exit and leave.

It wasn't like this years ago. Paint me sad.

I agree. I have done it many times. Checking out a construction project, especially when it is in an actively being developed neighborhood, isn't a big deal. Not always the safest thing do to being a construction project, but it happens.

Because there is video of him doing this several nights, I am leaning toward drug drop or pickup. I wonder who was his partner, client or supplier? I wonder if he had cash or drugs on him at the killing, or if it is in the woods between the house and the shooting... or if the other person looked and collected it.
