Alabama should move it’s state capital to Birmingham

Just read they might spend $200 million of fed virus relief money out of $ 2 billion given on a new state capital building. Why not just get the hell out of town and develop Birmingham into a big time city for the state. Knock down legion field and build a new capital, they might want a better part of town but it makes for a good works program and can clean up a bad area. Throw in a lottery and some casinos to bring in some cash. Alaska is another state that could use a new capital location

I can think of another state that needs to abandon its current location. Flip Alabama half over on its side and it will be a hint.

Arkansas Should move their capital to Hot Springs

That way Nick could court state legislators and SEC officials during one trip.

I wonder how accessible Alaska’s capitol is to the average resident.

Yeah frick that. Those bastards raised the gas tax last year and it took them no time to siphon off 250 million for the port of mobile. Now that fricker Cam Ward wants to siphon off another 150 million for COVID relief. Now they want to piss away 200 million in federal COVID relief funds on a new capital building? its infuriating

In Birmingham, they love the meemaw…….boo, boo, boo

Look at a map.
It’s in the southeast corner of the state and is in an archipelago bordering British Columbia.
It’s apparently a massive pain in the arse to get there from anywhere else in the state.

Itskind of irrelavent. The people who whine about accessibility don't visit their legislators when they're in their own city for Nine months of the year.
Juneau is perfectly suited for the capial.

Why move it to another shitty city?
Move it to Florence
And move Texas's back to Washington-on-the-Brazos

Movie it to Natchez. Should have been the capital in the first place.

When I saw that, I thought it was a joke that it could even be a realistic thing. Like what a-hole actually thought using corona relief money for new statehouse digs was remotely a prudent thing to do?
Then you consider that our state leadership in Montgomery is both corrupt and inept. They know the citizens of Alabama don’t really pay attention to those things and that all they have to do when running for re-election is play a few commercials about how they support the Bible, Trump, and guns more than their opponent. The Alabama GOP Primary voters will then eat it up and elect the same stooges.
It’s why I’m almost glad we don’t have a lottery here even though I support it. Those assholes would never make it available for education.

I live in Juneau.
It's an hour and a half flight from Anchorage.
There is no part of Alaska that's easily accessible to the geographic rest of the State.

You evidently live in Juneau, but any bias you may have doesn't mean you're wrong. Plus, it is so much easier to communicate generally nowadays that I don't think the terrible disruption to SE AK would be worth the benefits to others in the state. These are just my thoughts as a visitor, not a resident.
