I believe you on that. Its just it was very weird because at the time Smith was our only wr commit and it was looking like we where gonna lose Brian Thomas.

Mullens weak spot is his willingness to use a two QB system. It disrupts their offensive rhythm.

really surprised by how unimpressive Mullen is at recruiting at UF.

Especially considering how bad Miami and FSU are

They are going to end up at Tennessee. Their bag man is putting in overtime now that he is on quarantine and doesn’t have to do his day job. Tennessee is orange hot right now.

If Bama is going to play them every year then I want them to be good

I would say he is a good offensive mind lbut great X’s and O’s coach might be a stretch at this point. Good to very good but I can’t agree with great at this point

Mullen is one of the greatest coaches in SEC history. I am not saying he is in the same category as Saban or Bear, but that sucker had Mississippi fricking state ranked #1. But he is in that group behind Saban and Bear for sure.

The decommits are due to Florida's staffs reputation behind the scenes.

I’d like to hear more about this.

Yeah, about halfway through the season. Finished with a career best (at MSU) 10-3 overall record and a ranking of 12:in the coaches poll and 11 n the AP. By far his best season at state and didn’t finish in the top 10. Did manage to finish 2nd in the SEC West, though. Pretty good as that was his only year to finish higher than 4th in the West and his only season with a winning SEC record there. Out of 9. Total SEC record at State was 33-39. Overall 69-46. Managed to finish 3 out of 9:seasons ranked in the top 25. 17/15 in ‘10. 12/11 in that historic ‘14 season. And 23/24 in ‘17 before moving on to Florida.

Of course he inherited a relatively talented team at Florida in the atrocious East and managed to put together a couple of 2nd place SEC East seasons at 5-3 and 6-2. Of course he was tied for 2nd in ‘18, but who’s counting. Hats off to him, he did finish ranked in the final top 10 both years, bringing his overall HC récord to 90-51 overall and 44-44 in the SEC. in 11 full seasons with all of 3 of those be gone winning records and a big fat Zero in SEC Championship Game appearances.

Best thing mullen can do is go out and hire an awesome recruiting co and stick to the X’s and O’s.

Mullen is a great coach. Look at how bad MS State was before he was hired and immediately after he left. I think MS State hit a home run with Leach but after Leach retires you’ll see MS State be a perennial dumpster fire. Mullen did more with less than anyone in the SEC. That said, he is not a top tier recruiter which squanders one of the biggest advantages of being at UF. UF isn’t helping him with their second rate facilities though.

While Floridas staffs reputation has already been hurt because of their head of player development getting into it with ex recruits, notably Kamar Wilcoxson. It has been said that behind the scenes they Lie. Alot.

He's a dick. Nothing more nothing less.

I think this is the real issue. There's a reason he wasn't called after Meyer and Muschamp. Not many people like his personality. He's drab, humorless and comes off as a douche. He wasn't Florida's first choice after McIlwain but Florida couldn't land their first choices. So, the former AD at Moo U went with someone he was familiar with. Plus, he didn't want PR fiasco of more rejections.
