I think that was a big factor in Ruiz being so more highly rated. Cush is big enough to probably be a starting guard in a year or 2, but his biggest attribute at center is his smarts and ability to make pre-snap line calls. He loses that value at guard, whereas Ruiz projects to be a much better guard if he doesn’t stay at center. So Cush may actually prove to be a better center than Ruiz in time, but Ruiz’s value is in his versatility. And the thinking he’s a Day 1 starter.
