And that is a serious issue. Of course people hang on his every word, he’s the President of the United States of America. If he said, “Will none of these lazy insignificant persons, whom I maintain, deliver me from this turbulent priest?,” Beckett would be killed.

My point is that he is on international television as the President, addressing a very serious medical issue and pandemic, and he uses the time to riff extemporaneously about whatever enters his head.

Under these circumstances he should take the messaging more seriously. He does this to himself.
