Hes in good shape and QBs are lasting longer and longer,
but his athleticism is a good portion of his appeal, and that generally doesn't age that well.
I am a firm believer in the "tank and get your guy" method. There is a reason 21/32 of the starting QBs in the NFl are 1st round picks.
After that you have like 4 good 2-7th round guys
Brady, Brees, Wilson, Prescott
MAAAAAYBE Cousins, but I don't think he is on that list.
Then you have journeymen, gap fillers.

I agree, we need quick agile OL to run the RPO with Hill.

Yes. Payton is making sure this OL is top notch for the next QB to be in the best position to win. Look at how well Dallas' offense played those years with the best OL in the league, and that was with ok talent outside of Elliot.
We have top tiered skill players. This team will be sick this year, and next will be solid with whoever is the QB (I now am believing it will be Tay)

After Joe there wasn't any qb worth taking in the first imo..... Good move by the Saints not reaching for Love!

Taysom takes over for 3 or 4 years until his eventual replacement is ready.

Rodgers is the future, why you think we gave Love to GB.....

Not if Aaron Rodgers becomes available.

Negative that shite was annoying as frick. That being said, I agree with the OP on this thread. Def shows Payton is all in on Taysom.
People on here questioning it?? Well, Payton has NEVER been wrong about a QB. Dont forget that Payton KNEW Tony Romo was going to be good when Romo was also an unheralded practice squad QB. Payton knew Romo had the juice, and he was right.

Bean, do you know who Garrett Grayson is?
Posted on 4/24/20 at 11:08 am to Midget Death Squad
All last night showed was that Sean did not think Love was the guy. I do think it further proved that Sean thinks Taysom can be a stop gap starter for us though.
It makes sense. We keep our line elite for Brees' last year and going forward Taysom steps in to be the starter with years of learning under Drew Brees and a great line protecting him. And if we are mediocre under that formula, we go get a QB. But I think we can at least be competitive with Hill and a good supporting cast

Taysom haters can legit eat dicks

yeah to say he has never been wrong is innacurate. No coach has ever hit 100% on their QB choices.
However, Grayson was drafted and then ultimately released once Payton realized he couldn't cut it. He has seen hill now for a while and is (apparently so far) confident in his ability to take over.
Again, I am not sold one way or the other on Hill. I am just reading the tea leaves, and it does appear that Payton is not blowing smoke when he has been praising Hill as the next Young.

I get the Grayson miss. But other than that, he's been fairly spot on in his analysis of QBs (Getting Hill off waivers, wanting Mahomes, wanting Romo). Overall, I trust Sean's evaluation of QBs. I think he's earned that trust of the fan base even if he did miss once

Hill isn't a good QB though.
Posted on 4/24/20 at 11:14 am to Midget Death Squad
Awesome, a guy who's thrown 10 passes is our future
Posted on 4/24/20 at 11:15 am to Midget Death Squad
Not to mention he's already 30 so even if he is our guy he won't be for very long

Is he gonna lead us deep in the playoffs and help us compete for a SB? Probably not. But I haven't seen enough of him. But you are probably right. He is, however, good enough to keep us from completely blowing the team up while we wait to bring in our next guy.
Ideally, when we find our next QB, we have a good supporting cast around him right off the bat. That allows us to be good for longer because we're paying his supporting cast while he's on a rookie deal and by the time that QB's next deal comes, we would have drafted some cheap replacements for that supporting cast. And Hill, in my opinion, is a good enough QB to keep us competitive to an extent while we find that next franchise QB. My biggest concern is Hill's ability to stay healthy for an entire season as the starter.
