It is nothing short of hilarious how we give up 7 sacks at home to Atlanta in a game that cost us a first round bye, get absolutely exposed on the interior in the playoff game that knocked us out in the wild card round, Sean says publicly that guard and interior OL is a need this offseason, and yet Saints fans are jumping off bridges because we took the best Interior offensive lineman in the draft.

The Saints draft OL extremely well. Evans, Nicks, Armstead, Mccoy, Ram. If we take a guy this high we must have a really high grade on him and think he can contribute immediately

Sean already said that Warford (20 pounds too heavy all year) will have to compete for his job.

The "Saints bias" against LSU players continues another year because we had the audacity to make our team better by adding a player who didn't go to LSU. God forbid we pass up the 6 games of tape Patrick Queen has. Ruiz has 20+ games of production on tape. God I hate this fricking narrative. Some of you really need to cool your jets and let the adults talk. None of you know how to grade film or even watch offensive linemen. You just bitch when Drew ends up on his back 10 times a game and head back to your tailgate for another bud light.

Saints addressed their biggest need with the best player in the draft at that position. Can't fathom how that's anything but a really solid move

Well we could've drafted an actual guard instead of a center.

But of course sean loves "projects"

They didn't mention a single thing about football related to him after he was picked. I went back and watched to be sure. I'm not sure I've ever seen that for a first rounder

I actually wanted us to draft Ruiz early on but then I fell off of him a little bc he is a little bit of a positional blocker in the run game. He doesn’t drive guys 10 yards down field and burry them. However when I went back to the film I noticed that the kid doesn’t lose and is excellent in pass protection. He absolutely stones bull rushers at the line of scrimmage and allows for a clean pocket. He isn’t bad in the run game but he isn’t a mauler. He doesn’t have the nasty aggressiveness like McCoy does. But he is a tremendous interior pass protector and is really smart.

He is not a project. He is a day one plug and play starter at guard or center. Center and Guard doesnt differ much. Most centers can play guard. He has also played a few games at guard in his career.

If it was him VS Jefferson maybe they’d have a case. I like queen but he doesn’t push that meter for me plus we lost mike nolan so he probably wasn’t going to jump in up great for us anyway. Now in Baltimore he’ll probably be a pro bowler.

I love the pick I trust Ireland . I hate Peats contract no way anybody was gonna pay him anywhere close to that.

Ruiz is day 1 ready and will start immediately, but sure, he's Sean's "project."

Honest to god, some of yall should just stop lying on this website. Just say you don't watch football. It's fine man it really is. Just stop the lies

I don't care what offensive line grade the interior of the Saints OL has received or any pro bowl selections they have.

In big games, they had their teeth shoved in.

Ruiz is the new starter at center.

The other interior OL personnel are competing for starting guards and backup center.

The changes were needed.

Warford is getting packaged for a draft pick or cut if his weight does not come down.

Completely agreed and perfectly said.

Glad you watch football.

Me, you, funbunch, wickedway might be the only couple on here that do.

Have seen some truly idiotic things typed on here today. A few bordering on mental retardation. One or two that encompass sheer lunacy

Ruiz is a solid pick and will start from day 1... What makes me laugh are you dumbasses that acutally think the Saints will win another superbowl during the Drew Brees / Sean Payton era. That ship has sailed

Agreed... This was a really good pick. Half of those other guys everyone wanted will be busts. Ruiz will be an all pro and anchor to our offensive line for years.

Ruiz was abused by Alabama. That scares me.

Warford was abused by every Vikings players. Which scares me! This was a very good but unsexy pick. Our fans are just not smart.

Almost all centers can play guard, not all guards can play center. Having him and McCoy able to plug in play at 3 positions on the line is great versatility on cheap contracts. It's almost like CSP and the front office thought ahead about the thing they are paid millions of dollars to think about.

Did you find clips of this or do you just remember this when you were zoning in on him in that game?

Part of the reason they did that was because they used a big chuck of the saints airtime to broadcast CSP’s pitch for the NFL’s CV19 relief efforts. Since CSP is the only coach (that I know of) who had the disease this both makes sense and is a little bit of bad luck for those who wanted to see his tape. They didn’t skip Cesar’s tape because he sucks.
