Don't do it. The snow in WY is hard to comprehend for people that live in the South. It was still snowing off and on in June last year. We tried to go to Rocky Mountain National Park outside Denver, and it was closed due to a blizzard....In June.

Yellowstone is best in Late May / Early June. Still some snow, most everything is open, calves are dropping, and most importantly- the tourists aren't 4 miles deep at the entrance. The transition of Jackson Hole from April to August is amazing to witness. I learned that every Asian in the world goes to Yellowstone. There are more Asians than Bison in the Park at any given time during the summer.

Not sure what this has to do with visiting in April but cool, great observation?

I don’t think it’s ever been a secret that Asians travel to Yellowstone in droves.

Which makes me think this may be a good summer to visit if things open back up. I can’t help but think there would be less of them traveling this year than in years past.

And when you are calculating travel time in Yellowstone, you need to multiply the number of Asians times the number of bison, elk and deer. Because they stop traffic to take pictures of every single one.

There are people who love to go in winter but I don’t get it. A guy was telling me that they keep a few roads or trails clear of snow and it eventually becomes like a tunnel with several feet of snow packed on either side. Some of the animals share the cleared trails with people. He said that a guide told them that if they ran into a herd of bison or whatever, they were supposed to get their snowmobile as close to the wall of snow as possible and then crouch between the snowmobile and the snow wall while the animals passed.

Not sure if he was exaggerating but I’ll wait for the warmer weather.
