I want to buy a grill that will last and not rust out. I've bought Weber grills and liked them but the stand rust out and within a few years the Louisiana weather has killed the grill and I have to buy new parts. I'm looking at the kamado joe big joe but I'm not sure if I want to be limited to charcoal only. Any suggestions on what grill to get to last a long time. Budget is $2000. Thanks

I recently bought a Traeger at Costco and it’s great. I’ve got that and Weber Genesis that I use when I need something quick. Between these two I spent $1700. I’ve had my Weber for 5 years and I keep both of them covered and haven’t had any issues.

To echo what another poster said look into Yoder. They make top notch pellet and offset smokers.

Bingo, fits the budget perfect. Smoke & grill over direct wood flame. I love my YS480, it's built like a tank and turns out great food.

But for $500, check out the Masterbuilt Gravity Feed grill/smoker. It uses charcoal and wood and has a pellet style controller for set it and forget it cooking.

Are you just letting them sit out in the open with no cover?
My last Weber gave me 10 good years before any rusting and I didn't use a cover. Just kept it under the carport.
I've recently purchased a better model and am using a cover.

I bought a Camp Chef Woodwind pellet grill. Grill itself gets hot enough to “grill” things. But I bought the Sear Box for the side just in case. Gets as hot as 800-900°. Great for searing steaks. Easy to clean too. Very easy.

Spent $1000 and have loved the last two years with it.

kamado joe big joe

I am about ready to pull the trigger on one of these. I went and looked at them in person today and realized I had really underestimated the size of the Big Joe’s. Coming from a Weber kettle I knew that the classic would not cut it and knew I wanted something larger than 22”. I like the surface area of the grill on the Big Joe’s, but l was shocked at the overall size/footprint.

If you decide to go with the Kamado Joe I believe another poster can get some good deals on KJ’s and Primo’s.
