How many games do you think LSU won in the film room before the game even started??

It seems every coach we played in the latter part of the season made some comment about how difficult a time they were going to have stopping LSU's offense. Auburn was the only team whose scheme had us stumped...
“Sitting in the locker room before the game, I was really nervous about the way our team looked because they didn’t look like they usually do,” Saban said on his radio show. “They were kinda quiet and not how they usually are and it was (a) concern. You never know how they’re going to respond when they go out there and start playing, so I think there was a lot of nervous energy and I think there was a lot of anxiety, and I think that’s really what I was trying to avoid."
"I mean, when you watch tape on them, you have nothing but respect for what they've been able to do because I know the caliber of the defenses they're doing it against. Those are good defense that's they're out there putting up 40, 50, 60 points. They've done a tremendous job." Kirby Smart
KIRBY SMART: Yeah, extremely different. You can see remnants, some hollow elements, but the unique thing now is they're really just doing anything they want to do. They don't have to do anything. They do anything they want to do, and whatever they want to do, they've been really successful at in all the games. Outside of maybe the Auburn game, they did whatever they wanted to do whereas last year they were probably a little bit more predictable, and they wanted to be a little more run oriented. They've gotten to where now they can do what they want to do offensively and then they're successful doing that.
Please point out any quotes you know...

You’re never winning a football game when your head coach (Kirby Smart) says that an SEC title game is a really good opportunity to assess where you football team is at.

It was more about the Jimmys and Joes and less about the X and O.
For example I remember Kirby Smart saying they knew what we were doing, but we were too good for them to stop us.
When you have a truly great QB, three NFL type WRs, a versatile TE, and a superior versatile TB; it’s almost impossible to stop.

And, a very competent offensive line.

And OL depth. How many different players did we start?

We just didn’t finish against Auburn...we moved the ball well enough to score 10-14 more points against them

Kirby was pretty sure he had no chance before the game started and he was definitely beaten at the half time interview.

Auburn’s D didn’t stump us as much as our field was a pile of dog shite so that hung us up and we decided Nix had no shot of beating us so don’t let brown get a turn over that could mess that up.
So auburn had the formula of rain, shite field, a offense that was no threat and a dominant lineman that is a threat to force turnovers

It was their personnel

If anything I thought Clemson was in our head and burrow screwed up a ton of protections in the first half, Auburn just made plays in the redzone
The Clemson game was more about field position
Once we were out of our own endzone we dominated
But to give credit to their defensive scheme even Burrow said they never really figured out their blitz package. We were just that good at getting the ball out and beating them with superior athletes

I have to disagree with you there. LSU moved the ball really well between the 20s. We just got bogged down in the red zone.
What gave us trouble wasn't the scheme. It was our O-line struggling against a D-line that had two legit NFL caliber players, akin to opposing defenses having to defend 3 NFL caliber WRs and a Heisman winning QB on our side.

Steve E is the man, for sure

One of Clemson's blitz packages was anytime LSU was in a bunch formation they were bringing the house.

LSU had 508 total yards vs Auburn's 287. They didn't have us stumped. LSU bogged down in the red zone with a few questionable play calls.

Give credit to our coaches. They saw that we had issues in the red zone and went to work on this part of their plan, and as a result you saw what we did versus a great Clemson D.
Forever LSU

The film study with Brady, Steve, Burrow, all rolled into one helped us be dominant in many of the games. If you had to put a number on it I'd say 3-4 wins before we even started.
