“Starring on offense is one commonality we’ve found in studying linebackers who play well in college and end up as high draft picks,” Power said. “Most play on both sides of the ball in high school. And it makes sense. If you’re a dynamic athlete, you’re probably going to be getting the ball at the high school level.”
Devin White and Patrick Queen.

Also this is cool:

In a matchup against a Top 10 Youngstown State team, Board went down with an injury, and Cox’s name was called. It would become his first significant action in a college game, and also the turning point of his NDSU career. On his first snap, Cox logged a sack. By game’s end, he had three sacks and a key tackle for loss as NDSU knocked off YSU in overtime.
Coaches on both sidelines were blown away with the debut act, and YSU would become all-too-familiar with Cox over the next three seasons, including the head coach. Yes, Bo Pelini, the same coach who, in a twist of football fate, would later be the defensive coordinator that would help sign the Kansas City native at LSU.
“I think he’s an NFL guy,” Pelini once told reporters after a game between NDSU and YSU. “Sometimes I don’t know what NFL guys look for, but how you’d watch this kid on film and say that you don’t want this kid on your football team - I mean, you don’t know much about football if anybody says that.”
Pelini’s evaluation was spot on.

LaRon Landry is in this category and a few others from the 2003 squad. He played QB in HS.

Probably helps in diagnosing plays too. Can only help to have experience on the other side, knowing offensive tendencies and what different formations usually mean.

I REALLY hope for Jabril's sake that he gets to run out of the tunnel into a packed TS for the Texas game. Homeboy gonna lose his mind!
He's still never even been here, lol! Like many others, he's probably heard all the hype and seen all the "Top Stadium" polls, but whatever he THINKS he signed up for will exceed his wildest expectations.
