USS Roosevelt Whats you Guy's Take?

My take!
1. Capt. Cozier knew that as soon as he pressed send he was relived, And 100% he should have been, you cant do what he did an not expect to get the boot! He made his superiors look bad, that's never gonna fly in the military.
2. From what I gather and based on how his Sailors and Marines reacted during his departure, the man is probably a damn fine officer. For those of you that are not that familiar with how these things work, Commanding officers of Air Craft Carriers tend to eventually become Admirals.
3. So with that being said, there is no way, he didn't try and run it up the chain before he sent that email. If you think he didn't you are very naïve.
4. But the tricky thing here is I both agree with and understand why he was stonewalled. I've been either in or around the military for 2/3 of my life and Ill tell you what most would call covering something up, we look at it as, " How can we handle this crisis quietly and still maintain operational readiness",
5. The Roosevelt plays a integral, part in the defense of this country. The situation it is in right now is a direct threat to our national security. Cozier superiors knew this and were trying to manage the situation, but he didn't agree with the process and went public because he felt that's was the only option he had left. Again he sign his own fate.
6. Cozier stuck his neck out for his Sailors and Marines, he could have kept his mouth shut and retied as an Admiral in a few years. Listening to the President yesterday, I think he understands this and I'm interested to see how things end up for him.
7. If Acting Naval Sec Modly, is not asked to step down I will be shocked. To fly out to Guam just to rip Cozier to the Sailors and Marines who clearly backed him., was extremely arrogant and tone-deaf. This guy is a PR nightmare! Cudos to Def. Sec. Esper for pulling him in by the ears and making him apologize. I can 100% guarantee know one in the Navy respects Modly at all right now.

Let’s talk about the uss liberty instead

To me it’s a very tricky situation. Yes, he got the sailors help but from what I can see he also put them and allies in danger by this action.
Glad I don’t have to decide but national security measures were breached. I also think there should be retribution if his initial calls for help were ignored.
Obviously we do not have all the pertinent information needed to make an informed opinion. Mine is all based on speculation only.

My take is that I am still waiting on an explanation about why the Navy allowed port call in Vietnam and let sailors off the ship while a global pandemic was raging. I have never served in the Navy and I guess I am in no position to second guess. But damn that decision is hard to understand. I'd like to know who made that call and why.

Inappropriate to leak the information to the press versus reporting it up the chain of command. Even more inappropriate for the Acting Sec. of the Navy to use the language he did in addressing the ship's crew.
Solution: Modly should be given the boot. And you can replace him with Cozier.

The Captain deserved dismissal as well as a court martial with probably a dishonorable discharge or whatever ever they give line officers equivalent. I'd stop short of Leavenworth.
He knows the rules and chose to sidestep his chain of command. Carrier captains are pretty much top of the top and much is expected of them. I listened to the secnav on the 1mc and heard all the sailors complaining.
edited to say: Secnav sounded like a biatch also.
IMO, whoever released the 1mc recording should be dishonorably discharged also.
These Navy rules are not new. You don't give ship's movement information or readiness status. If you do, you risk action.

I hate to be a dick but you averaged one spelling error per paragraph, and not the autocorrect type errors, the didn't finish 9th grade type errors.

I 100% agree with this. Cozier allowing the ship to port in Vietnam is very puzzling!

Logic says I agree with these statements. I am sure this caused a lot of embarrassment for those directly ahead of him and to cover it up, lied and said they were told nothing. The 'chain of command' is all about power, and if you jump it, expect consequences.

My take is that you do not know how to spell integral.

Not sure why that is important. Is he going to be graded on it?
Didn't know this was an English class.

Some of my more extreme red team friends still insist the pandemic is a media construct. I'm sure there are some of these bizarre thinkers in the military too.
